Why
THE $20 FIX?
At
Ablutions, we believe passionately in humanity's responsibility
to the furry friends we've domesticated.
We've really let things get out of control in regards to
pet overpopulation. Unfortunately,
while it may be nothing more than a sad segment on the evening
news now and then to most of us, it's a different story to the
millions of dogs and cats that are euthanized every year to make
room for more unwanted pets.
It's a tragic cycle and the animals deserve better.
According
to the Humane Society of the
United States, "...pet owners can do their part by
having their companion animals spayed or neutered. This is the
single most important step you can take. Have your pet
sterilized so that he or she does not contribute to the pet
overpopulation problem, and adopt your next pet from an animal
shelter."
The
good news is there are responsible, compassionate people working
all over the country to change this, including AnimalKind®
right here in Ablutions' hometown of Raleigh, NC.
AnimalKind® is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission
is to end the euthanasia of adoptable animals in their local
area and beyond. They've come up with a realistic way of
working towards this goal in THE
$20 FIX, a nonprofit program that enables low-income
pet owners to spay/neuter their pets for $20 or less.
THE $20 FIX has already spayed/neutered over 4400 animals
with hundreds more approved.
